dc.description |
Coetzee thickly painted his wife's high heel shoe in bold multi-coloured strokes and placed a wooden last inside.
According to Ferrie Binge-Coetzee, he took this shoe prior to an exhibition and painted it without her knowledge as she
was to wear these particular shoes to the opening of his exhibition. This unusual work suggests a hint of his avant-garde
approach that he engaged with in the 1950s. |
