dc.description |
Alan Roberts was a prospector whose pioneering geological and prospecting work led to the founding of the famous Free State Goldfields. Home to the Lorraine Gold Mine, the nearby town of Allanridge was named in 1947 in his honour . This bronze bust of Alan Roberts was commissioned by the Allanridge Town Council. A second cast of the sculpture was given to the Roberts family but was later sold and is in the collection of the Pretoria Art Museum. |
