dc.description The artwork pays homage to Jiro Yoshihara (1905-1972), who after the Gutai Group's Osaka exhibition in 1959, offered Coetzee a place to stay at his studio in Osaka the commercial city of Japan. Yoshihara was a renowned Japanese painter and the leader of the Gutai Group, who were internationally acclaimed avant-garde painters with whom Coetzee exhibited at the Takahimaya Gallery in Osaka. en_ZA
