dc.description Sitting Woman is one of Eloff’s more impressionist works of a female nude. It was probably inspired by the Rhine maidens from Wagner’s opera, Der Ring des Nibelungen (1874). This opera was widely performed across Europe in 1934. Eloff sold the work to a family member, Mrs K Vorster in 1939. en_ZA
