Abstract:
Noncentral
distributions form an integral part of statistical inference. For example, the noncentral chisquare
distribution is particularly useful as it represents the sampling distribution of the
sample variance from a normal distribution with unstable expected value. This study
develops bivariate noncentral distributions via the compounding method. Some composite
distributions (such as the product, ratio, and proportion) are derived, their properties studied,
and applied to rainfall data.
