Abstract:
On 15 October 1928 he was appointed Research Officer at Onderstepoort and later Professor of Medicine at the Veterinary Faculty at the Institute. He will best be remembered for his transmission work on dourine in equines. Dourine is a sexually-transmitted disease of equines caused by Trypanosomia equiperdum. It remains an important disease in Southern Africa, North Africa, Russia, Middle East and certain other countries.
