Abstract:
Dr. P.J. du Toit succeeded Sir Arnold Theiler as director of the OVI in 1927, a post he held until 1948. His main area of expertise was protozoology. He had also become Professor of Tropical Diseases at the Veterinary Faculty in 1920 at the age of 32 years. He also had seven honorary Doctor's degrees conferred upon him.
