Don Averre was appointed in 1906 in charge of the animals at Daspoort. Averre was expected to produce any amount of horses for experimetal purposes. With the 'dislocation' from Daspoort to Onderstepoort in 1908 Averre was also responsible to tie and remove Arnold Theiler's famous white apron before and after operations and inspections.
