Abstract:
During April 2005 visual communication designers took part in an International
Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) Interdesign that addressed the topic of
sustainable rural transport in the North West Province, South Africa. This article contextualises
the activities of the visual communication design team during this two-week workshop. The question
posed is whether the inclusion of this team contributed to Interdesign 2005, and the nature and
possible value of this contribution are discussed.
