Biography of the veterinary surgeon C.F.B Hofmeyr. In 1945, as state veterinarian, he discovered occurrence of bovine besnoitiosis in South Africa. He was also a pioneer in the discipline of diseases of zoo animals in South Africa. The biography includes information about his/her education and career, scientific contributions and writings, homages and distinctions.
