Abstract:
Matthew 27:51 b-53 is a crux interpretum in the exegesis of the Matthew
text. By comparing the semantic domains of lexical items and by determining
the subtle distinctions between closely related words, the article
takes a close look at the reading of this text. The text is interpreted
within its narrative context against the background of the apostolic
preaching tradition. Following these exegetical lines, the article makes
the point that the resurrection of the saints in Matthew 27:51b-53 is to be
understood as a glorified bodily resurrection.
