A comprehensive analysis of the effectiveness of speed enforcement by camera as a tool in decreasing the accident rate on high accident risk roads in the City of Johannesburg.
The analysis indicates a significant reduction in accident rates on roads where speed
enforcement by camera operations was conducted. A more in-depth analysis determined that, of all the factors playing a role in the reduction of the accident rate, a reduction in the average infringement vehicle speed is the fundamental factor that is most effective in reducing the accident rate.
