Abstract:
This paper is aimed to discover if women are still being discriminated against, given
fair and equal opportunities as their male counterparts in the South-African
construction industry.
It also aims to provide possible solutions, should there be discrimination.
It will study the “employment acts” and policies that the government have set in place
to ensure equality, and if these policies are being enforced.
Do women belong in the construction industry? Is a site a suitable working
environment for women? How do women in the construction industry balance their
personal life and careers and is the construction industry much different to other industries?
