This transcriptome is available on NCBI Sequencing Reads Archive (SRA). Contigs were assembled from this dataset by using the assembler rnaViralSPAdes, which is optimized for the assembly of RNA viruses. To identify putative mycoviruses, these contigs were converted to protein sequences, and were then aligned to a custom viral database consisting of viral proteins of various mycoviruses from various viral families. Once these contigs were identified, they were further analysed using BLASTp, to distinguish actual mycoviruses from any fungal derived proteins. This particular virus, Ceratocysts platani RNA virus 1, matched closely to members of the viral family Mitoviridae, and contained an ORF which encodes for an RdRp domain.
