dc.description.abstract Photograph depicting an escritoire belonging to Mrs. N. Mark. Below the desk are three drawers shaped in plan (linenfold), within a splayed frame. The unusual cornice has a carved key block. It is the same piece shown in Fig. 122 on p. 101 of "Eighteenth Century Furniture in South Africa" by G. E. Pearse. See p. 97 for a description. The handles and key escutcheons were made by Lotter. en_US
