Abstract:
The origins of the Research Libraries Consortium (RLC) and background of the US internship programme are discussed in detail. The differences in the US higher
education system as well as the way in which the roles of American university
librarians differ from South Africa are highlighted. The presentation also gives an overview of the different libraries visited during the programme.
