Abstract:
The vexing economic, political and social problems of our times require that university education should be directed at issues relevant to society. Criminology has a long tradition of involvement with issues concerning the practice and policy of crime prevention and the rehabilitation of offenders as well as conducting basic research on criminal phenomena.
At this period in time an important question is whether the syllabi for criminology courses and research topics are in step with the important chages that are occuring South Africa
